70s is back!

Okay, so it's the eve of New Year eve and I've been shopping for a fancy dress costume. The theme is 70's styling and I've decided to go as a Starsky from the series Starsky and Hutch. For anyone not sure which one that it, it's the one who wears the cardigan, or at least I think it is. Despite the three decade lapse in time, I've discovered that effectively the only thing I'm really missing from my wardrobe for this outfit is an afro. Convenient I must admit, and handy given the astronomical amounts of money I seem to have hemorrhaged over the past month, but still a little concerning. Either, that makes clothes dangerously out of date or the 70s look is back. Is the 70s look back? I didn't think it was, that is until today.

Retro trainers, check. Over the top knit wear, check. Aviator sunglasses, check (these never went out of fashion as far as I can tell).  Yep it's official, the 70s look is back. I didn't want my first Blog to be about clothes. It sets a precedent, one I'm not particularly comfortable with, but oh well. I felt the revelation was too strong to just ignore.

It does goes to prove that if you hold on to things for long enough that they do come back into fashion. I'm not sure who told me that, probably my mother, either that or someone else's mother. However, it does seem 'they' were correct, whoever 'they' were. Correct or not, I'm not sure it's worth really holding on to clothes for over thirty years in the hope they may ones again be 'in'. If the moths in your wardrobe don't destroy them, there's probably  a good chance they won't fit any more.

Digression aside, I must say I am pleased. My interpretation of the 70s, as someone born in the mid 80s, is that it was a mild decade, filled with well mildness. It seemed uneventful and I think the fashion possibly represented this nicely. What I'm trying to say is that if the return of 70s fashion heeds the  return of a milder decade, then I'm all for it! Therefore long live the 70s, I mean the 10s.
